Turn Off Your Lights Through Your Phone Or Tablet! Real Reviews November 27, 2012 News & Updates views: 11368 How many times have you shut off your laptop in bed to go to sleep only to realize you need to get up to switch off the lights? Here’s a solution that you’re gonna love. One of the latest innovations in the movement for the Internet of Things, Spark is an ingenious light bulb socket developed by a team of engineers and designers in Minneapolis in the United States. Spark, currently a working prototype, screws into your standard light bulb socket and allows you to control your lights through your computer, smart phone or tablet via a Wi-Fi connection. All you need to do is buy the socket ($59 or Rs. 3,282 a piece once it’s available for purchase), download an app and you’re good to go. Spark will make possible a lot of useful functions through its apps – you can use the ‘sunrise alarm clock’ to have your lights slowly fade on to help you wake up; the vacation app turns on the lights of your house randomly to make it seem like someone’s home; and our favorite – you can have your lights flash when you’ve received a new email or text message! And if there’s something the creators of Spark haven’t thought of yet, you could bring it to the world by creating your own app to interact with the lights. Check out the company’s Kickstarter page to read more. Of course, if you want one in your home, you first need to contribute to the funding project to make possible the manufacturing of these devices on a mass scale. In the meantime you can check out the prototype on video or test the company’s live demo project by tweeting #hellospark and watching the light bulb on the website flash with your tweet!
