Now that wet, greasy hair is finally passé (thank god!), the newest trend to hit men’s hair styling is the messy matte look which requires the use of hair wax and not hair gels.

We headed over to Beauty Palace in Oshiwara (Mumbai) to see what’s flying off the shelves in the hair wax segment. We met Abdul at the sales counter who quickly pointed out the top three products in this range.

Abdul started off by showing us L’Oreal Professional Playball – Deviation Paste, a creamy white wax that he says is best recommended for shorter hair. He said this wax stays effective for 6-7 hours and is easy to wash off, unlike Schwarzkopf Professional’s OSiS+ Mess Up Texture Matt Gum (Medium Control) which requires at least two rinses for the wax to dissolve completely.

However, Mess Up is definitely the more popular of the two waxes, at least at Beauty Palace and probably because of the hefty discount offered on the product. Mess Up is more suitable for use on hair of a longer length and offers quite a strong hold for that rough and choppy look. This product also contains beeswax which helps your hair retain moisture and won’t leave it dry.

We were also shown a hair wax in the professional range – TIGI Bed Head Manipulator which is definitely the most expensive of the three but Abdul says it has its fair share of loyal customers. His claim is supported by several online reviews that praise the product’s texturizing strength. Still, it’s better to seek a professional’s help in using this product because using it at home may not give you the same results. Using too much will just leave your hair feeling greasy.

  1. new blog

I believe what you posted made a ton of sense. But, what about this?
suppose you were to write a killer post title? I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how
to run your blog, however what if you added a title that grabbed a person’s attention?
I mean Trends: Men, it’s Time to Dump Greasy for Matte, Messy Hair
    – RealReviews is kinda boring. You should peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how
they create news titles to get people to open the links.
You might try adding a video or a pic or two to get readers interested about everything’ve
written. Just my opinion, it would make your blog a little bit more interesting.
